Haught(which is now considered obsolete) is a spelling variable of the also obsolete word haute from Middle English used around the 1520s/30s. It was taken from the Old French version (1430) haut, or halt, meaning "high". You may wish to check it out on this site: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/h...
This site says it is of Shakespearian usage and is obsolete: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/h...
I have been trying to find the language haught comes from but cant find it so if you know please email me.Thnx
As the word "haughty comes from the French "haut", meaning "high", I assume that "haught" comes from the same word. The original Latin was "altus".
